-
Uni Watch by Paul Lukas - "Year of the Uni"
December 28, 2005
Was there something in the water this year or
what? Whatever the explanation, it definitely seemed
like 2005 had more than its share of uni-related
gaffes, goofs, foibles, weirdness and oddities. So
without further ado, here's Uni Watch's selective
year-in-review timeline.

Rochester
Honkers Unveil New Logos (Northwoods League
(baseball))
December 23, 2005
The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club has
unveiled two new logo designs for the 2006 season and
beyond. The concept was a culmination of months of
cooperation between the Rochester Honkers Baseball
Club and Corporate Web Services (CWS) of Rochester,
MN. “We felt the timing was right to update our existing
logo, while still maintaining its strong tradition,”
said Rochester Honkers General Manager/Co-Owner Dan
Litzinger. “The original logo is not gone but will
always be an original cornerstone of the organization.”

Uni Watch by Paul Lukas - "The Island of Misfit Unis"
December 19, 2005
With the holiday season upon us, Uni Watch
recently watched yet another screening of the classic
Rudolph claymation special, which of course features
the Island of Misfit Toys. But if you were watching
the NFL this past weekend, you saw rare cameos by two
misfits of a different sort: the Cowboys' blue
jerseys, making their first and possibly only
appearance of the season, and the Bills'
blue-over-white combo, which took the field for the
first time since 2002.

San
Jose Earthquakes Move to Houston (Major Soccer
League)
December 16, 2005
MLS got a chilly reception in this Southern
city Friday but nobody seemed to mind. The
league made it official Thursday that it is moving the
Earthquakes franchise here after failing to reach an
agreement for a new soccer-specific stadium in San
Jose. And despite temperatures in the mid-40s at the
announcement ceremony outside of city hall Friday,
everyone was upbeat about the future of MLS in
Houston.
